Abstract
The purposes of the project “Thai Herbal Mulberry Paper Soap” were (1) to learn English vocabulary about the materials and how to make Thai herbal mulberry paper soap, (2) to practice the four English skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking for project presentations, and (3) to compare the quality of the herbal paper soap between the Kaffir Lime formula and the Lemongrass formula. The materials used in this study included online soap-making guides, Kaffir Lime, Lemongrass, and natural mulberry paper. The organizers studied and worked on this project during lunch breaks and after-school hours.
The results showed that the organizers learned English vocabulary about making the paper soap. They also developed all four English language skills by listening and reading for information, writing the report, and giving the project presentation in English. Moreover, they successfully made a portable “Thai Herbal Mulberry Paper Soap” for real hygiene use. For the quality comparison, the test results showed that the Kaffir lime formula cleaned better than the Lemongrass formula. This project helped improve English skills, thinking skills, and the use of local Thai herbs to make an eco-friendly product.
